Wallpapering in the Heinsberg district

Wallpaper sets the mood of a room long before the first piece of furniture arrives. We prepare the wall, hang the lengths and hand back a surface where you have to look for the seams.

  • Working in construction since 2012
  • Based in Hückelhoven, Heinsberg district
  • Advice and execution from the same person

Length by length

Sample wall

Four patterns, one wall

Scale, direction and density change a room far more than colour does. Switch the length and watch what happens to the surface.

The sample wall is a drawing. It shows effect and scale, not a particular product. Which wallpaper actually suits your wall is something we look at together on site.

Vertical stripes

The stripe is the most honest pattern there is: it shows immediately whether a wall is plumb and whether the lengths were hung true. In return it gives a room height without making it heavy.

  • Makes low rooms feel taller
  • Demands a first length hung exactly plumb

Materials

Which length suits which wall

Wallpaper is not one material. Each type asks something different of the substrate, and that is what decides how much preparation a wall needs.

01

Non woven

The common choice today. Paste goes onto the wall, the dry length is hung straight onto it, nothing expands, and years later it comes off again in one piece.

Substrate
An evenly absorbent, sound substrate with no open cracks.
Suits
Living rooms, hallways, anything meant to be changed again one day.

02

Paper

The classic pasted length. The paper is pasted, has to soak and moves while it does, so the soaking time and the way it is placed decide the result.

Substrate
A carefully filled, even substrate, because paper shows what lies beneath it.
Suits
Rooms where a specific paper or a specific print is wanted.

03

Woodchip

The quiet standard that gets painted over. It takes the nervousness out of a surface and can be repainted several times without rebuilding the wall underneath.

Substrate
A firm substrate. Small repairs disappear under the texture.
Suits
Stairwells, hallways, rooms with many edges and junctions.

04

Embossed texture

Embossed surfaces add depth without introducing a motif. In raking light they produce a play of light and shadow that a flat wall simply cannot deliver.

Substrate
A level substrate, so the texture reads instead of competing with waves.
Suits
Single walls that should gain depth without drawing attention.

05

Patterned

Patterned lengths are the real design decision. They need more material, because the repeat has to be allowed for when cutting, and they need time at every seam.

Substrate
A smooth, evenly primed substrate and precise preparation.
Suits
Feature walls, alcoves, rooms with one clear direction of view.

This overview explains what the materials ask for. It is not a stock list: which wallpaper makes sense for your room is decided together during the site visit, based on the state of the wall and on what the room is meant to become.

Preparation

The work nobody sees afterwards

Wallpaper covers colour, never faults. What sits under the length decides whether a wall still looks closed two years later or whether something shows at every seam.

  1. Look at the wall

What is on it, how well does it hold, how absorbent is it? That check belongs before the quotation, not in the second week of work.

  2. Strip the old paper

Old wallpaper is soaked, taken off completely and the remaining paste washed down. Hanging new over old saves a day and costs the whole wall.

  3. Fill and smooth

Cracks, plug holes and old repairs are filled and levelled. Only then is the wall a continuous surface again.

  4. Sand and remove dust

We sand until the hand finds nothing, then vacuum. Dust is the most common reason for lengths lifting at the edges later.

  5. Prime

The primer is chosen for how the wall absorbs. It makes the paste grab evenly, so every length gives you the same time to position it.

  6. Hang the lengths

The first length is set plumb, every following one picks up the repeat. Seams are rolled, cuts at ceiling, skirting and frames run clean.

Not every wall needs every step. What yours needs is something we tell you at the site visit, not in the final invoice.

Wall surfaces from our own sites

No catalogue images and no projects borrowed from anyone else. These photographs come from sites of this business, with everything a working site shows.

The photographs show interior wall surfaces, some of them mid job, and not exclusively wallpapering. None of them is retouched.

Area covered

From Hückelhoven across the Heinsberg district

Short distances are not a marketing line in this trade. They are the reason a site visit can happen next week and a small correction never turns into a project of its own.

The Heinsberg district is built like its history: post war housing from the fifties, brick farmsteads, terraced houses from the eighties and new developments on the edge of every town. Each of them brings its own walls, from old lime plaster through rough render to machine applied gypsum.

That is why every enquiry starts with a visit. Without having seen the wall, neither the build up nor a price that still holds at the end can be settled.

The business

You speak to the person who stands at the wall

Tobias Knopczyk has been carrying out building projects since 2012, 14 years by now. He learned the techniques from his father, who spent his working life in construction. Farbenhaft24 Raumgestaltung works from Hückelhoven across the Heinsberg district and the surrounding area.

Why this business

01

Preparation before paper

The substrate decides the result. So it gets prepared, even though nobody sees it afterwards.

02

A tidy way of working

Covered up before we start, cleared away before we leave. Both are part of the job.

03

Advice in person

The owner carries out the site visit himself. Whatever the wall shows, you discuss it directly with him.

04

One contact

From the first question to handover the number stays the same. No handovers, no call centre.

Good to know

What people usually ask first

Four answers that would otherwise take a phone call.

Does the old wallpaper really have to come off?

In almost every case, yes. New paper hung over old inherits its seams, its bubbles and its grip on the wall. Whether your wall is an exception shows up in a test patch during the site visit.

How long does one room take?

Almost entirely down to the substrate. A smooth, sound wall is papered in a day; a wall with old lengths, cracks and past repairs needs the preparation first. At the site visit we tell you which range you are in.

Do I have to empty the room?

Usually not completely. Furniture is moved together and covered, delicate pieces are better off elsewhere. What makes sense in your case we discuss at the visit.

Do you supply the wallpaper?

Either way works. Many customers choose their own, others want a recommendation. What matters is that quantity and repeat suit the surface, and we work that out together beforehand.
